Italian company Officina+39 has embraced the Bluesign way and joined the prestigious joint network of stakeholders to actively support sustainability and best practices in the industry. As a Bluesign partner, the company will work to ensure responsible use of resources and guarantee the highest possible degree of consumer protection.

Innovation, sustainable practices, clean information, transparency and social responsibility: these are the cornerstones of ‘Trustainable’, the ethical mindset that drives Officina+39’s approach to business. With its solid thirty-year experience in research and chemical application in the textile and fashion sector, the Italian company has carried out the advancement of environmentally friendly chemicals and processes: always pushing the boundaries to pioneer change and improvement at all levels, the company said in a media release.

The landmark achievement confirms a longstanding pledge to minimise environmental impacts by envisioning and developing forefront solutions and technologies that reduce the use of energy and hazardous chemicals, while increasing waste recycling and water conservation.

“We always say that going green is our passion,” said Andrea Venier, Officina+39 managing director. “But it’s more than that: it is our first goal. Supporting the development of a better industry and preserving the world housing us all is extremely important to us and this partnership is a huge new step towards what we hope will be a shared change for good.”

Eager to constantly grow and improve, Officina+39 has recently extended its commitment to innovation to its own headquarters too, by moving to a brand new facility in Biella (Italy). Cutting-edge and up-to-date, the new structure confirms the positive attitude towards the future that the company embodies.

This mindset also permeates every innovation in the company’s portfolio, which is created combining the key ingredients of Italian creativity and know-how with its Trustainable vision. This allows to deliver a unique and eco-conscious range of chemical specialties, dyestuffs and pigments for the denim and garment industries as well as selected eco-compatible chemical auxiliaries and innovative processes – each one developed in compliance with rigorous safety and quality standards. Protection of the planet, its people and its resources being the goal, a strong focus is kept particularly on the 6th UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goal of clean water and sanitation.

Aqualess Mission is a case in point of this effort: aiming to reduce water in manufacturing operations, this forefront innovation features three cutting-edge laundry products for one innovative process that, if compared to traditional treatments, allows for water consumption savings up to 75 per cent as it reduces the overall water usage from an average of 52 litres to only 12.5 for a pair of jeans. This is made possible by combining the application of Remover BC, a laser booster, Aqualess Aged, a waterless compound to give denim abrasion effects, and OZ-One Powder, an advanced product to give garments a bleached yet eco-friendly treatment in a dry application, for a worn and distressed look. Compatible with conventional washing and treatment machinery, Aqualess Mission provides a concrete support that actively responds to the need to reduce water consumption in the denim industry.

Transforming textile waste into coloured powder dyestuffs, Recycrom is another revolutionary and sustainable technology in Officina+39 portfolio. Cutting down the environmental impact, Recycrom’s full range of pigment powders is obtained through a cutting-edge upcycling process that involves textile fibres from used clothing and manufacturing waste for dyeing and printing applications.
