GAM finishes 40% construction of handicrafts market

A handicraft market is being established in Ras Al Ein region. Around 40 percent construction of the second phase of this market, which will come to an end by September end, has already been completed by Greater Amman Municipality (GAM).
The market will comprise of a display and selling area for handicraft products, including, traditional sculptures and hand-made products, informed Mohammed Kharabsheh, the director of Supervision and Projects.
Establishment of the second phase of the market consisting 3-floor premises in a space area of 1,050 square metres costs around JD 250,000 ($352,360). Ground floor of the 3-floor premises will house 6 stores selling traditional heritage handicrafts like fabric, jewelry, pottery and copper pots.
Hobbies, ideas, products, and artistic works depicting Ammani lifestyle will be showcased on the first floor. While, on the second floor there will be main cafeteria, terrace, and stairs showing the main yard and Amman Mountains.
First phase of the project that includes maintenance and renovation of the metal hanger with a space area of 1,300 square metres, will house 7 stores, warehouses and street vending spots for handmade sculptures.
It also includes sanitations and a cafeteria, glass fronts, and an upper pathway to exhibit paintings and to follow up the market activities. Exterior paved yards, parking lots, flower basins, and benches over an area of 4,000 square metres are also present in the first phase, which costs around JD 1.2 million.
