Kordsa bags awards for best R&D centres in Turkey

Industrial yarn producer Kordsa Global has been has been ranked among the best R&D Centres nationwide in Turkey in 2015 third time in a row, according to the Turkish Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology R&D Centres Performance Index and bagged two prizes; “Third Best R&D Centre in All Sectors”, and “Best R&D Centre in the Textile Sector”.

The awards were handed over by the Minister of Economy, Nihat Zeybekçi, and the Minister of Science, Industry, and Technology, Faruk Özlü, to the CEO of the Company, Cenk Alper. Leading companies conducting R&D activities from various sectors attended the 5th Private Sector R&D Centres Summit.

Cenk Alper said, “We, as Kordsa Global feel proud as our R&D efforts and our value-creating innovations have been awarded. We are aware of the fact that innovation is the most crucial dynamic for products and services that will create value for our customer and for our sustainable growth. R&D and innovation are not only used in our products, but we also implement those notions in our way of doing business and in our processes as part of our vision. The most concrete output of this vision is the Composite Technologies Centre of Excellence. This new business model conjointly established by the industry, the university and the public provides a single roof under which the academicians, doctoral students, R&D personnel, and production engineers meet.”

“Through the strength of this unique model, many different processes such as R&D, prototype production, incubation centre, and production process will be treated under the same roof. The high-tech composite materials produced at this centre will transform different sectors such as automotive, aerospace, and energy. Our goal with the Composite Technologies Centre of Excellence is to make Turkey the technology hub of the entire world,” he added. (GK)
