LFW to celebrate 2 days of sustainable fashion

This season, as Lakmé Fashion Week (LFW) embraces its first ever virtual edition, the platform has dedicated the first two days to further its commitment towards sustainability. The platform promises to hold thought-provoking conversations, highlight the rich heritage of Indian textiles, intriguing showcases and never seen before collaborations.

“This edition is special as we’ve been able to programme shows and engagements that represent various elements of sustainability across the fashion industry. From key designer showcases to circular changemakers, we are addressing sustainable design, collaborations, providing support to circular fashion start-ups, promoting radical transparency and craft revival projects with the help of valuable partnerships. The digital space also allows us to create focused conversations where we can highlight key issues and engage with global leaders as well seamlessly,” said Jaspreet Chandok, head-Lifestyle Businesses, IMG Reliance Pvt Ltd, which organises LFW in association with Lakme.

"Sustainability has always been a key pillar of Lakmé Fashion Week, and this season we will continue to shine the spotlight on sustainable fashion with two days dedicated to sustainable fashion with new collaborations and showcases," said Ashwath Swaminathan, head of Innovations at Lakme.

On the first day (October 21), the showcases scheduled at LFW are iNIFD presents GenNext, Circular Design Challenge presents Malai, Gaurang, IMG Reliance presents All About India, and Raw Mango.

Circular Changemakers, AW| Amit Wadhwa // Kaveri, LFW & Fashion Open Studio present 11.11/Eleven Eleven, Bemberg presents Tattva by Hemang Agrawal, R|Elan presents Pankaj & Nidhi, and Péro are scheduled for the next day (October 22).
