Marchi & Fildi, Italian producers of cotton based yarns for the textile industry, focusing on a complete colour offer and specialised range of types and styles of different yarns, is set to present new product lines of Ecotec, first ‘smart’ cotton yarn, at FILO, international expo for yarns and fibres, to be held at Milan, Italy, on February 22 and 23, 2017.

his year, Ecotec by Marchi & Fildi, a partner of C.L.A.S.S, a unique multi-platform hub based in Milan that specialises in integrating a new generation of eco values into fashion, will present two product lines namely; Ecotec Innovation: a line of smart solutions created by the R&D department of Marchi & Fildi, in cooperation with a textile style office; and Ecotec Collection: an exclusive range of Ecotec fabrics made by accredited Ecotec partners.

The ‘smart’ cotton, Ecotec by Marchi & Fildi, is a ‘first’ Made in Italy yarn produced by an exclusive production process. This process is traceable and certified, transforming pre-dyed textile clippings into a 100 per cent cotton yarn with record savings in water and energy consumption. Fundamental in this smart process is the saving on source raw materials because the process is all about transforming quality waste clippings into excellence through a process of pure valorisation.

Smart cotton Ecotec is high quality, delivering a great price/quality ratio. Ecotec is a refined and versatile yarn that is perfect for woven and jersey fashion fabrics, as well as for knitwear and hosiery. Ecotec is perfect for retail and contract furnishings in ways that appeal to the creative experimentation of interiors stylists and designers.

Marimekko, a Finnish design company renowned for its original prints and colours, has released its summer 2016 collection, including a jersey series called Stripe 15 made with Ecotec yarn from textile industry waste. The company’s designer chose the recycled material for the collection as it also performed very well in tests. (GK)
