In line with an integrated handloom development scheme in Uttarakhand, a handloom cluster is being established in Haridwar's Mangalore area, at a cost of around Rs. 6 million.
More than 400 weavers are likely to benefit from the upcoming cluster. The weavers in the region are mostly engaged in manufacturing bedsheets, towels, and shawls from cashmilon.
Experts have been employed to develop skills of these weavers and computer added text design (CATD) software will be used to develop better designs.
Handloom products will be displayed at various places across India, and buyer-seller meets will also be organized.
