Chinese Dec cotton imports highest in current season

The cotton marketing year begins in September and runs through August in China. In the period beginning from September 2010 to May 2011, China imported 2.09 million tons of cotton.
The import value of this consignment amounted to US 5.78 billion.
Between the periods, December witnessed the highest volume of cotton being imported in to the country, when it stood at 461,600 tons totaling to $1.22 billion.
December was followed by January, which witnessed the second highest volume of imports at 390,700 tons amounting to $1.10 billion.
October 2010 witnessed the lowest volume of imports at 96,100 tons reaching $204.7 million.
