We are very pleased with how our creative team has developed the trends for the coming edition in July. However, we have found in the past that the buyers seemed quite busy and did not appear to take enough time during the show to understand more about the seasonal trends. So, we decided to put more focus on the essential points of the trends in order to adapt to their busy schedules. We also complemented the offer with seminars from top level style offices.

Q: What do you think about today's international textile market?
K: The market is evolving, becoming more mature in its choices! In the USA and in Europe, all of the pessimistic moments when no one wanted to travel and everyone was apprehensive of innovation are fading away. We feel that the world of textile is starting to become interesting again, especially in Europe. We find more and more innovation in the shops, not in an explosive way but in a very intelligent and focused way, with new cuts, new fibres, and simpler but well geared to our present way of life.

The textile manufacturing and production continues to be prominent in Asia and low-cost manufacturing countries, but at the same time, the production of smaller, very creative series targeted as an enhancing complement to the bulk collections are produced domestically again, especially in France, England, Germany, Spain and parts of USA. If you talk to the textile machinery manufacturers, they are starting to sell their machines in Europe and the USA again. We feel the market is re-adapting and mixing production bases (domestic and non-domestic) and this is what we have been working for. We did forecast this would happen, but it is happening a little bit later than we had expected.

China will continue to boom but in a more reasonable way. The offer in USA and European markets will increase and be better in a very creative and quality-oriented way. They are very niche markets, and niche markets are coming back! As for China, the domestic market consumption will replace part of the outside Chinese production and rebalance export and domestic manufacturing.
