Deputy Prime Minister of Economy and Regional Development Verica Kalanovic said in Zrenjanin that industry giants such as Yura, Grundfos and Pompea have completed or begun construction of new factories in Serbia in the past three days, which is confirmation of economic recovery of Serbia.

Kalanovic officially opened a new facility for dyeing in Modital Pompea in Zrenjanin and recalled that this company received two €1.9 million grants from the Serbian budget to encourage direct investment, which will contribute to the opening of 500 new jobs in Zrenjanin and Brus.

She said that the total value of this company's investment in Serbia is approximately €20 million, adding that the aim of this company is to achieve an annual production of three million pieces of underwear in our factories, and to move part of its production from China to Serbia.

A new, 14th investment cycle of the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development begins, administered by SIEPA, she observed.

Kalanovic noted that new investors will receive the government's support for direct investments, production, export and employment.

Adriano Rodella, the owner of Italian textile company Pompea, stressed that this is a great day for his company and that he wants to increase its presence in Serbia.

Rodella thanked the Serbian government and Zrenjanin for their support, announcing new Pompea's projects for 2012.

Zrenjanin-based Modital, which is 100% owned by Pompea, employs 370 workers. A facility for dyeing was opened in which 70 workers are employed and 80 will later be taken on.

Pompea operates in 50 countries; it has 1,500 workers, 900 of them in Serbia, mainly in Brus and Zrenjanin.

Modital Pompea produces goods primarily intended for the markets of Italy, Russia and other eastern European countries.
