Lenzing remains in VÖNIX Sustainability Index

Lenzing belongs to the exclusive group of the very best sustainable companies for the sixth successive year. VÖNIX Sustainability Index up 12% in the index year 2010/2011.
Sustainability, i.e. taking economical, ecological and social aspects of business operations into account, is an essential success factor for companies and investors.
This also applies to the Austrian stock market, where the most sustainable companies are included in the VÖNIX index (VBV Austrian Sustainability Index). Launched in 2005, VÖNIX recently concluded its sixth year (index year 2010/11 from June 21, 2010 to June 17 2011).
Lenzing was also accepted into the VÖNIX index for the sixth successive year, confirming its position among the most sustainability-oriented Austrian companies.
The VÖNIX index registered a 11.95% gain, and thus surpassed the performance of the ATX index (+ 11.48%) but behind the ATX PRIME (+14.07%), which achieved its increase in value with a higher volatility than VÖNIX. Since its inception, the accumulated outperformance of the VÖNIX index in relation to the ATX PRIME actually increased slightly, from + 16.98% at the beginning of the 2010/11 index year to + 17.40% at the end.
The VÖNIX index was newly structured effective June 20, 2011. More than 60 companies were analyzed, with 23 stocks ultimately included in the VÖNIX 2011/12 index.
The sustainability analyses are upgraded once annually, which decides whether or not a company is accepted in the VÖNIX index. More than 60 large Austrian companies listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange were evaluated according to about 100 individual environmental and social criteria during the last few months.
