Several textiles and garment importers who opted to place their orders in other countries rather than their traditional Chinese suppliers, are not yet returning to China, an expert has said.
Costs of manufacturing fabrics and garments have increased in China during the past two years prompting many importers to search for their inputs elsewhere.
Recently, however, the country has implemented some measures to bring down prices and re-attract international buyers of textiles and garments.
Chinese companies can offer goods at competitive prices due to their high production capacity and adequate raw material availability locally. Still, the level of production and the number of export contracts signed by Chinese textiles and garment firms have not increased much.
