SPINEXPO New York – a successful event

The 3rd session of SPINEXPO New York took place at the Metropolitan Pavilion & Altman Bldg on 18-19-20 July 2011, presenting an international mid-to-top of the range offer of textile fibres and yarns for flat bed, circular knits, weaving and accessories manufacturers to the American sectors of flat bed knitting, jersey, clothing and furnishing fabrics, as well as new techniques and developments from world leaders specialised in textile machines in the spinning and flatbed knitting sectors.
The exhibition hosted 85 exhibitors from 12 countries, and featured the offerings from 4 world leading fibre manufacturers and promoters, 74 spinning and knitwear manufacturers, and 7 style offices.
SPINEXPO continues to improve the quality of the attending visitors which reached the number of 1561, of which 80% are potential buyers, making SPINEXPO New York a fair dedicated strictly to business.
The visitors' profile shows that 36% were designers, 26% brand manufacturers and 18% garment makers. The market position of the visiting companies showed that 20% came from medium range market, 22% high end, 29% mass market and medium-high end. Visiting companies were looking primarily for yarns (44%), followed by knitting textile/circular knits (21%), fashion knitwear (17%) and fibres (13%).
Visitors came mostly from New York and New Jersey, but we witnessed a growing number of companies from Middle America and California, as well as a continued increase from Europe, Canada and South America. 35% of the visiting companies came to SPINEXPO New York for the first time.
SPINEXPO hosted two seminars: ESP New York/Nelli Rodi, presented “Revelations” – an overview of A/W 2012 trends, and Trend Union/Li Edelkoort presented a forecast of future trends of mohair yarns. Both seminars were very well attended and together with the marketing information presented at the Trend Forum Area, showcased highlights of the spinners' collections and the fashion trends to come.
The trend area featured a number of developments made in the participating spinners' yarns including knitted and woven swatches, circular knits and garments, illustrating SPINEXPO Autumn/Winter 2012/12 seasonal trends.
