Textile and garment enterprises in China will promote branding of their products, in accordance with an idea of China Textile Industry Association.

Currently, most of the existing textile companies in China manufacture for nominated brands and private labeling can be seen in only 10 percent of goods, the statistics of China Textile Industry Association reveal.

Although 70 percent of the world's textiles are said to be made in China, Chinese brands are very few. This decreases the bargaining power of the companies, which is derived from brand.

The Association is now promoting the idea of branding through one thousand firms in the next 5 to 10 years. It has set the target of brand value to cross one trillion Yuan during the period.

In recent years, Chinese enterprises have started venturing into international markets with their own brands. For example, brands like Li Ning, Lily, and Vigoss have opened their own shops in the European and the US markets.

With the prices of export rising every year, exporters of textiles and garments having their own brands are in a better position to bargain. For instance, the Lei Ma (China) Co. Ltd., which has its own two brands as well as original design products, has got orders from European traders in spite of it having hiked the prices by 20 percent.
