Katmandu's new green dyeing process to be displayed in Las Vegas

Kinetic Colorization uses dispersed dye to colorize fabrics including many of the newer high tech fabrics. What has surprised everyone is the ability to colorize nylons in both short runs and long runs, either single or double sided. Through the process of Kinetic Colorization the dye is actually put inside the fiber so the abrading associated with silk screening and wet printing does not take place. Even with bleach, the color is locked into the fiber. In a one hour straight bleach soak test with Cordura Nylon there was only minimal color loss. Once again, Kinetic Colorization had heads turning and lots of questions being asked.

“Katmandu and Critical Mass expect a very busy show at this year's Magic show in Las Vegas Nevada for many reasons, including the over all awareness of Kinetic Colorization as a green alternative to fabric colorization is growing”, stated Mark Robinson the President of Katmandu and the Executive VP of Critical Mass.

“We use no water and have a very low carbon foot print compared to traditional dyeing processes. We also think we are better because we lock the dyes inside the fiber”, stated Brian Henry a VP at Katmandu.

The release of the report by Greenpeace on Fabric Dying in China came at a very interesting time for Katmandu and Critical Masses. The phones, emails and fax machines have been ringing from the United States, The E.U., Latin America, China, India, the Middle East, and South Africa. All are asking about the new green Kinetic ColorizationTM. Katmandu is sending out samples and making appointments with companies wanting to find out more about this process which does not use water or chemicals to colorize Polyesters, Nylons, and various other blends such as poly spandex and NYCO.
