The substantial growth witnessed in China's textile and apparel exports so far during the current year, may not continue and a slow down could occur in the remaining part of the year.

The decline in the raw material prices during the second quarter of the current year will impact the contract prices of export goods, thus affecting the value of future exports.

China exported textiles and apparels worth US$ 137.719 billion during the first seven months of the current year, registering an increase of 25.6 percent year-on-year, according to customs statistics. While textile exports accounted for US$ 54.603 billion, up 27.49 percent year-on-year, the exports of apparels and accessories contributed US$ 83.116 billion, up 24.39 percent year-on-year.

The substantial growth in the value of exports was mainly due to the drastic growth in prices of goods owing to the rise in the cost of raw material. But, with a fall in the price of raw material in the last few months, the value of growth of textile exports already showed a slowed down in July.

The growth rate of apparel exports was 6.92 percent higher in July compared to same month last year, but it is now expected to slow down in the coming months.
