The quotations for October in New York and the Cotlook A-Index have remained firm despite the difficulties in the world economy. On the domestic market the prices remained steady as well. Some producing companies were still in company holidays, but cautious demand of the spinning mills back to work was recognized. However, some inquiries were for price orientation only. In view of continuously high yarn and fabric stocks as well as firm raw cotton prices it has been difficult for the producing industry to get support for their buying as well as their selling price ideas, which also caused a calm market.
In the medium staple range the following business was reported: West African, Brazilian and Argentinian cotton for the 3rd and 4th quarter 2011.
