It deals with the State's handmade fabrics and their importance in trade and culture of Gujarat. The history of dyed, woven, painted and printed work of the State textiles is also traced in the book.

The book to be released by Director of Ahmedabad-based National Institute of Design (NID), Mr. Pradyumna Vyas, has been written by Eiluned Edwards, who is a researcher at Victoria and Albert Museum, London and a faculty at the Nottingham Trent University in the UK.
