China's home textiles exports shoot up

China's home textiles exports shot up to US$ 11.27 billion for the first seven months of the current calendar year with a year-on-year rise of 13.3 percent, customs figures revealed.

The rate of growth, however, dipped 14 by percent compared to the last year's growth rate during the same period.

Volume wise, China's home textiles exports plummeted by 4.9 percent during the review period, but it grew by around 19.2 percent in terms of average value, which largely contributed to the overall increase in export value.

Amongst the products whose price registered positive growth were towel products, the prices of which hiked by 24.5 percent, while prices of other category of products increased by over 14 percent.

Exports of other home decoration items dropped by 17.9 percent volume wise, but registered a 29.3 percent growth in terms of value.

In terms of market, China shipped home textiles worth US$ 3.01 billion to the US during the January-July period, registering a year-on-year rise of 1.4 percent. However, this was lower than the growth rate of 33.3 percent achieved during the corresponding period last year.

China's home textile shipments to EU was worth US$ 2.15 billion, indicating a year-on-year rise of 11.8 percent, but still this remained below last year's corresponding period's growth rate of 25 percent.

China's exports of home textiles to Japan also grew by 33.5 percent year-on-year to US$ 1.51 billion, as against last year's corresponding period's growth rate of 2.7 percent.
