Textile machinery exports surge in H1

Japan's textile machinery exports surged by 30.7 percent year-on-year to 133.769 billion yen during the first half of 2011, as per the data released by the Japan Textile Machinery Association.

Category-wise, exports of weaving preparatory machinery showed a sharp 99.7 percent rise to 38.051 billion yen. The exports of machinery for dyeing and finishing were up 46.9 percent to 3.582 billion yen, while exports of looms were up 44.4 percent to 29.164 billion yen.

Exports of machinery needed for fibre-making grew by 5.9 percent to 3.696 billion yen, while the equipment for spinning rose by 3.6 percent to 12.100 billion yen, and for knitting increased by 8.8 percent to 30.729 billion yen.

During the January-June period, the textile machinery production increased 37.9 percent year-on-year to 127.514 billion yen. The highest production growth of 91.5 percent was seen in winding machines which grew to 24.365 billion yen.

Imports of textile machinery rose 27.2 percent to 16.918 billion yen during the review period. Of these, the imports of looms jumped by 166.2 percent to 775 million yen.
