There is a high demand for workers in the domestic textile industry, according to Ade Sudrajat Usman, Chairman Indonesian Textile Association (API).
Among the country's manufacturing sectors, Mr. Ade said, the textile industry currently employs the highest number of 1.3 million workers. The plastic and footwear industries employ 700,000 and 500,000 employees, respectively.
Mr. Ade said around 300,000 new employees are expected to be absorbed in the country's textile industry by 2014.
He added that the API, together with the Government, trains around 5,000 local workers every month to meet the high demand. All such trained workers have been employed as the industry is currently witnessing a rebound, he said.
