Fibre2fashion to launch initiative on sustainable practices
Sep '11
In order to contribute its mite to a greener world and adoption of sustainable practices by the textile sector, Fibre2fashion - the world's largest B2B portal for the textile, apparel and fashion industry - is publishing an Impact Feature on 'Latest Issues and Innovations in Textile Sustainability'.

The worldwide textile, apparel and its allied industries are causing major environmental impacts from the use of energy and toxic chemicals. Alongside, water consumed by the sector is also considered the highest across all industrial sectors.

This has created an urgent need for the textile industry to adopt sustainable practices. Luckily, the textile industry is blessed to have sustainable substitutes, which can positively help in reducing the damage we inflict on the environment at large.

The challenge to make textile processes sustainable is a pressing reality, now and in the future as far as environmental resources are concerned. The world has already woken up to the threat of environmental degradation in all its forms. Governments and industries have become conscious of this threat and are rapidly taking steps to arrest and prevent it.

A few in the textile industry have already started adopting greener measures, as an integral part of their corporate strategy. A research study made by University of Missouri reveals that, consumers are willing to pay 15-20 percent extra for clothing products from companies which adopt ethical and sustainable practices.

So, a critical need has arisen for the textile industry value-chain to take responsibility and adopt sustainable business practices.

This special and exclusive Impact Feature from fibre2fashion will contain views and articles dedicated to adopting sustainable practices and provide market-based solutions to the challenges of the environment and industry development across the global textile value chain.

Experts from the sector will provide their views on sustainability and the Impact Feature will prove to be a reference point for industry professionals, planning to take the road to sustainable means of production and will be available in both - Online and hard copy formats.

Click here to feature your products and book space to contribute to a greener environment as after all green is the only colour which will drive the textile industry in the near future.
