The price of Asian paraxylene (PX) declined by US$ 13/ton and closed at US$ 1,721.50/ton CFR Taiwan/China and US$ 1,701.50/ton FOB Korea on Monday.
Many floating bids and offers for PX from Japan were there, based on 50 percent of Asian contract price, plus 50 percent of Asia spot price, and premium.
The offer price of PX for October supply decreased from US$ 1,735/ton to US$ 1,725/ton, but no deals materialized.
There was a bid in the market for US$ 1,715/ton CFR, but the corresponding offer price rose to US$ 1,730/ton CFR, and it did not result in any deal.
As Chinese manufacturers reduced PX production, some end-users have begun to buy PX spot.
