South Asia-China Trade Fair 2011 ends in Nepal

The five-day South Asia-China Trade Fair 2011 held in Kathmandu, Nepal, has been successful in increasing trade between the participating countries of South Asia and China, according to the China Executive Council (CEC), the organizers of the event.

The fair provided a platform for international exhibitors to expand their business in Nepal and some of them were able to enlist local partners to market their products.

Several large Chinese firms expressed interest in starting their business in Nepal, the organizers said. While some countries from the South Asian region did not participate in this year's fair, efforts will be made to ensure participation of all countries next year, the organizers said.

Nepali companies dealing in handicrafts, carpets, etc. participated in the fair. The other attractions were kurta salwars, Rajshahi silk saris and garments from Bangladesh, and jackets, kurtis and saris from Pakistan.

Around 180 stalls from five countries were visited by over 90,000 people during the five days.
