Textile exports from Shishi City to EU, ASEAN grow

Textile exports from Shishi City, a County-level city in the municipal region of Quanzhou, Fujian province in China, to EU and ASEAN countries have grown in the first eight months of the current year.
During January to August 2011, Shishi City exported textiles worth US$ 108.39 million to the EU, registering a year-on-year growth of 222 percent. Volume-wise, it shipped 1723 consignments, up 148 percent year-on-year.
To ASEAN market, Shishi City exported textiles worth US$ 10.341 million during the same period, up 236 percent year-on-year. Volume-wise, it shipped 148 consignments, showing a year-on-year increase of 66 percent.
Industry analysts say the current export data shows the ability of textile and garment enterprises in Shishi City to meet the stringent EU standards for trade.
