Now in its eighth year, the must-attend event for the Scottish Textile Industry will be held in Edinburgh at the iconic Scottish National Gallery on the Mound on Thursday 27 October. The afternoon conference from 2.30-6.30pm will be held in the state of the art Hawthornden Lecture Theatre within the Gallery and will be followed by a drinks reception and dinner. For guests who wish to stay overnight in Edinburgh there is the option to stay at the nearby Apex Waterloo Place Hotel.

We are delighted to announce the full speaker programme featuring internationally renowned retailer, Saks Fifth Avenue, and key players from the Scottish textiles industry.

Tom Ott, Senior Vice President and General Merchandise Manager of Saks Fifth Avenue will provide an essential insight into what a leading US retailer and brand looks for when selecting suplliers. Saks Fifth Avenue was opened in the early 1900s aiming to be a unique specialty store that would become synonymous with fashionable, gracious living.

Saks Fifth Avenue is renowned for its superlative selling services and merchandise offerings. The best of European and American designers for men and women are sold throughout its 46 stores servicing customers in 22 states. Tom has held his current position since 2008, recently leading the launch of their own 'in-house' label and is working with a number of leading Scottish suppliers to deliver this successful collection.

There will be a practical session on Social Media focused specifically at the Scottish Textile Industry, delivered by global PR consultancy Weber Shandwick. The Scottish Leather Group will provide a thought-provoking case study on their ground-breaking site and their zero waste policy.

The Scottish Academy of Fashion completes the programme with a presentation on how this ambitious project is at the forefront of making Scotland a global centre of excellence. The conference will be hosted by Keith McDermott of Brilliant Red.

The Scottish Textile Industry Association (STIA) assists Scotland's textile design and manufacturing sector to build on its strengths to work together in a rapidly changing global industry. We aim to benefit members through interaction and collaboration with industry partners and colleagues, by providing access to information and assistance, and promoting Scottish textile products and companies to buyers, suppliers and interested parties.
