Pakistan's textile industry should work with a new zeal to attain its goals as the current year has been declared by the Government of Pakistan as the Textile Year, Chaudhry Shahzad Siddique, the newly appointed Vice Chairman of Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) has said.
He stated that the textile sector is the country's core industry but is confronting severe crisis due to several issues both at domestic and international levels. He urged the Government to help the exporters and keep its promise of revitalizing the industry.
The Government is completely aware about the significance of the sector and hence has declared current year as Textile Year with an intention to focus on revitalization of this core industry of the country's economy, Mr. Siddique said.
He noted that the Government prioritized resolving power and gas supply issues and ensuring uninterrupted supply of the same. However, instead of keeping its word and easing the problem, the Government has further increased the gas load-shedding hours, he added.
The PTEA Vice Chairman said the textile exporters are making sincere efforts to boost exports, but in the absence of Government support, it may not become possible for them to achieve the target fixed for the current year.
