On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the Bihar government has decided to increase the discount on Khadi sales from the current 10 percent to 20 percent.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also announced a grant of Rs. 500 million for revitalization of the 82 Khadi committees and associations that already exist in the State.

Speaking on the occasion of the 87th foundation day of Akhil Bharatiya Charkha Sangh in Bihar, the Chief Minister said that individual grants for modernisation of the 'Charkha' would also be extended by his government.

He added that the State government would introduce all necessary measures for improvement in designs of Khadi, including tying up with national-level institutes for developing contemporary designs.

He further said that his government would hunt for newer Khadi market.

He urged the 'Khadi Gramodyog Board' and the Department of Industry to initiate proper steps to formulate an action plan for employment generation in the Khadi Gramodyog.
