Fashion shows at eco textile fair complement A/W trends

Interstoff Asia Essential, Hong Kong's only specialist fashion, functional and eco textile trade fair, opens this week from 6 – 8 October 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre in halls 1D & E.

The three day events occupies 9,000 sqm of trade space with 207 participating exhibitors from 11 countries and regions including Hong Kong, Germany, Italy, Mongolia, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK as well as special country and region pavilions from China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Products range from high quality cashmere, denim and wool to eco textiles, functional fabrics and accessories plus much more.

Some of the world's most influential eco certification and standardization bodies including Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS), Bluesign technologies ag, Control Union will once again exhibit at the show. Global Organic Textile Standards (GOTS) and SGS will share the current eco certification requirement and sustainable development at the seminars held on 7 October (Friday).

Fashion is also a strong focus of the fair. A unique Designer Studio will showcase a range of international talent including award winners and their textile designs from Texprint, a UK textile competition; winning pieces from the EcoChic Design award by Redress formerly Green2greener; and outfit designed by graduating students from the Hong Kong Design Institute.

The show organiser has additionally invited fashion designers to collaborate with participating exhibitors to design fashion collections that complement the coming seasonal trends. This year, two distinctive fashion shows will take place on the first two days of the trade

Fabrics to Fashion Walk – a colorful collection designed by fashion students from Caritas Bianchi College of Careers who are interpreting next season's palette using exhibitors' fabrics will take place on Thursday, 6 October 2011 at 12:30 and 5:30 pm as well as Friday, 7 October 2011 at 4:00 pm.

The debut Asian Design meets Lenzing Fiber Walk – ready-to-wear collections designed by Mr Ming Yan from China, Ms Rose Chiu and Mr Eric Wong from Hong Kong, Mr. Hidenobu Yasui from Japan, Vack Yuun Hyun from Korea and Mr Baron Lee from Taiwan on Friday, 7 October 2011 at 12:00 pm.

“Interstoff is an important industry platform for buyers worldwide so it's a natural step for Lenzing to debut a fashion walk here,” said Ms Echo Mok, Marketing and Communications Manager for Asia. Designers will use the latest Tencel and Lenzing Modal fabric collections for the special Lenzing fashion show.
