WSC holds dyeing workshop for weavers in Imphal East

For promotion of handlooms in the district, the Weavers Service Centre (WSC) under the Office of the Development Commissioner for Handlooms, Porompat, Imphal East district, held a two-day 'design exhibition-cum-dyeing workshop'.

The workshop held under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, invited participation of weavers from various handloom clusters and handloom organizations.

Several fabrics woven while making use of Dobby, Jacquard and yarn dyed with vegetable dyes were showcased during the workshop, alongside the hand-woven designs.

Kommu Ravindra, officer in charge of the event stated that the WSC regularly conducts one month and four month training programmes in designing, weaving, dyeing and printing and also conducts special training programmes for providing training in Dobby, Jacquard, natural colour dyeing and silk dyeing.

He revealed that all the handloom organizations and businesses participating in the workshop were called upon to make the most of the opportunity.

The WSC staff members presented the participants with information regarding various handloom schemes and also demonstrated various dyeing techniques.
