Surya partners Mike Farrell for new line of area rugs

Surya Inc., a leading manufacturer of area rugs and home accessories, has entered into a partnership and licensing agreement with designer Mike Farrell for designing a new line of area rugs "with edgy, young, fresh designs and colours."
Farrell began his career in 1991 in New York City working with textile and home décor firms. On a visit to Argentina years back, Farrell was fascinated by the Bohemian style and culture of the country, whose influence can be seen in his designs even today. His designs also have an element of imagination, innovation, playfulness and humour.
Including Mike Farrell to its growing list of world-class designers will help Surya position itself as trend-spotter in the industry, according to Satya Tiwari, President of the Georgia, US-based Surya.
In the past, Farrell's design style has included graffiti-style looks and face patterns that complement his unusual and innovative way of thinking about design.
Farrell said every collection he had designed so far has come from his heart, and is “young, full of hope and adventures of imagination”. He said his first line of rugs for Surya will be different and would bring out the child within the adult.
Surya's other designer licenses include Candice Olson, Paul Marrot, Bob Mackie, Jef Designs and Jill Rosenwald.
