Nigeria's Fashion and Textile Stakeholders forum (FASTINS) has called for developing the country's textile and fashion sector to increase job opportunities and to earn more foreign exchange through boosting exports.
The forum is organizing a conference on the theme “Clothing Renaissance: Empowering Nigerian Investors For The Global Market” on November 11-12, 2011, with an aim to revamp the country's textile and apparel sector.
Mrs. Joy Chinwokwu, Coordinator of FASTINS, said the forum would promote high quality Nigerian textile and fashion items by setting up wholesale and retail shops, both within the country and outside.
She informed that the forum would provide the required communication support so that the stakeholders can be more focused in the production of made-in-Nigeria textiles and garment items that could compete favourably in the global markets.
The two-day conference is being attended by representatives of several Nigerian ministries and government agencies, including the Ministries of Agriculture, Trade and Investment, the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, Nigerian Export-Import Bank and the National Orientation Agency.
