Micron Price Guides drops

14 Nov '11
4 min read

Crossbred prices eased on both days, but more so among the 28 micron and broader types. This may have been at least partly due to a large offering of crossbred wools in Sydney and Melbourne on Wednesday.

Oddments were a bit mixed again, with some movements in both directions. The average AWEX Merino Cardings Price Guide was relatively unchanged.

Buyers for China were dominant followed by buyers for Europe and India.

Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 45,275 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 21 and 22) are 46,300 and 41,700 bales, respectively; a decrease of 21.3% over the three sale period when compared with last year.

The New Zealand Merino Company is rostered to offer 2,000 bales in Week 21.

In South African sales, the Cape Wools Indicator was down by 0.6% since last week against a 1.2% appreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 1.2% appreciation against the Euro. 9,420 bales were on offer.
