Wool sale little quieter - British Wool Marketing Board

The tenth British Wool Sale of the 2011/12 Season was held by the British Wool Marketing Board at Wool House and offered 1,736,774 kilos.
Following several very strong sales the market was a little quieter today (16th November 2011) with a clearance of 69%. However, with around 50% of the anticipated 2011/12 season's clip already sold there was little movement in prices.
Compared to the last time sold: Pick and Supers Firm Halfbreds Firm Cross Wethers Buyers Favour, Hogs 2% cheaper Red Kempy and Light Grey Radnors 5% dearer, other Radnors Firm Selected Welsh Sellers Favour, other Welsh Buyers Favour Cheviot Hogs Fully Firm, Wethers up to 2.5% cheaper Blackface 2-2.5% cheaper
A farmer run organisation, the British Wool Marketing Board (BWMB) was established in 1950 to operate a central marketing system for UK fleece wool, with the aim of achieving the best possible net return for producers.
It is the only organisation in the world that collects, grades, sells and promotes fleece wool and the only remaining gricultural commodity board in the UK.
