The prices of textile items in Spain have increased 5.4 percent year-on-year in October this year, which is the ninth consecutive rise of more than 5 percent y-o-y. The prices of textile products have climbed 4.1 percent y-o-y during January to October 2011.
The annual rise of 5.4 percent in October was 0.8 percent lower than the 6.2 percent y-o-y posted in September this year, according to the data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
Spain's Industrial Price Index (PPI) surged 6.5 percent y-o-y in October and the average rise during the first ten months of 2011 works out to 5.1 percent.
In the apparel sub-sector, prices increased 0.6 percent y-o-y and 0.1 percent on a month-on-month basis. In September, garment sector prices grew by 0.4 percent y-o-y. The average rise in prices till October this year also comes to 0.6 percent.
All sub-sectors of Spanish textile industry recorded a positive growth in prices in October. The highest increase in price was witnessed in textile fibres, the price of which grew by 12.4 percent y-o-y. This was followed by fabrics where prices rose by 6.9 percent, and prices of other textiles grew by 3.2 percent.
