Mexico's jacquard maker to unveil fabric line in US

Mexico-based Unidad Textile Puente (UTP), manufacturer of jacquard fabric, intends to present its new 2012 collection UTP-America during the forthcoming Showtime Fabric Fair.

Meanwhile, UTP has opened its new fabric distribution centre and an office in United States' North Carolina. While the new UTP-America office has been started in Winston-Salem, the new high-tech distribution centre TSG Synthetics has been set up in Hickory.

Enrique Gabayet Manzano, the company's owner, said launching of the new distribution centre is intended at catering to the US and Canadian customers, and signifies accomplishment of one of their very vital goals to enhance their services to customers there. It would also widen their geographical reach as a part of their long-term strategic growth plan.

He said it has been several years since they have been shipping their fabrics to Europe and North America, and the new centre would help them improve their performance and offer better services.

The company said consignments would be dispatched for Hickory from Mexico based mill on every Monday and would take some days in transit.

Mr. Manzano said it is an advantage to have their mill on the same continent as their customers, as it enables them to cut lead times and accept minimal orders that reduces the inventory levels with distributors.

The company now operates with eight independent sales representatives in the US and Canada. The sales and marketing of UTP in North America is led by Don Frail Associates, who specialise in textiles and upholstered furniture.
