Chinese cotton reserves procurement crosses 1mn tons

As of December 16 this year, China Cotton Reserves and Management Corporation has totally acquired 1.616 million tons of raw cotton in the current cotton season year.
Among them, 520,020 tons were bought from inland areas and 1.0958 million tons were acquired from Xinjiang.
The body cited the latest estimates of cotton production at 7.548 million tons in the 2011-12 cotton season, up 21.2 percent over the previous season.
Of which, Yellow River region is expected to produce about 2.431 million tons, a rise of 20.9 percent y-o-y; Yangtze River will yield 1.555 million tons, up 19.6 percent year on year and Northwest inland is expected to contribute 3.552 million tons, an increase of 22.1 percent.
