Chinese large textile firms output rises sharply

The production of large textile companies in China has grown significantly by 27.5 percent year-on-year in the initial 11 months of 2011, according to latest figures.

The production of 35,900 large Chinese textile companies, which have an annual sales volume of more than 20 million yuan (about US$ 3 million), rose to 4,952.64 billion yuan (about US$ 786 billion) during January-November 2011 period.

During the same period, yarn production by Chinese large-scale textile firms increased by 12.5 percent year-on-year to 26.319 million tons, while fabric production grew by 13.3 percent y-o-y to 56.78 billion metres.

Similarly, output of chemical fibres rose by 14.9 percent y-o-y to 30.74 million tons and that of garments by 8.5 percent y-o-y to 22.97 billion pieces.

During the period under review, China's textile exports were worth US$ 86.37 billion, which showed a rise of 24 percent y-o-y, but a decline in growth rate by 4.8 percent compared with the first half of 2011.

China exported garments worth US$ 139.78 billion during the 11-month period, registering a rise of 19.5 percent y-o-y, but a decrease of 4.2 percent in growth rate compared to the first six months of 2011.

The total investment in Chinese textile projects with investment of 5 million yuan and above was 610.16 billion during January-November 2011 period, up 34.7 percent y-o-y, but a drop of 2.9 percent compared to January-June 2011 period.
