Lindström buys Mr. Mat operations in Bulgaria

Lindström Group, which provides textile services in Europe and Asia, has acquired the business operations of Mr. Mat. The acquisition of the company that supplies mat services is another successful step for Lindström's growth in Bulgaria.

“Our objective in Bulgaria is strong growth and market leadership. With this acquisition we will strengthen our position as mat market leader”, says Mika Hartikainen, Senior Vice President in charge of Lindström's European and Asian subsidiaries .

Lindström founded its subsidiary in Bulgaria in 2008 and started operations by offering workwear services to corporate customers. In 2010, the company's portfolio in Bulgaria was expanded to mat services and in June 2011 company made an acquisition of the Bulgarian mat service company - Euroclean. As a result of entering mat business and two acquisitions, Lindström has strengthened its position in Bulgaria remarkably. Lindström plans to open new sales positions in lines with its strategy to further expand its business in Bulgaria. Currently Lindstrom employs 31 people in Bulgaria .

Lindström Group offers mat services with its own concept in 13 European countries. Lindström is an environmentally responsible company operating globally. The Group has established various CSR initiatives to improve waste water management and energy efficiency, lower the water consumption and washing detergents. Lindström has also a global agenda for reducing its carbon footprint.

The company is a long-term partner of UNICEF Finland. In 2011, Lindström and UNICEF signed a four-year agreement on a partnership to support UNICEF Finland's new project in Madhya Pradesh, India. UNICEF is building wells in order to improve sanitation and provide hygiene training in Madhya Pradesh aiming at ceasing the high child mortality rates caused by diseases such as diarrhoea.

The project includes 150 schools that reach a total of 37,000 Indian children and 15,000 families. The new agreement is an extension of the previous four-year partnership agreement, started in 2007, in which Lindström supported UNICEF Finland's hygiene and sanitation programme in Bihar, India.
