Indonesian textile and apparel exports rose in value, but fell marginally in volume in 2011, when compared with 2010.
Exports from the sector rose 19.68 percent to US $12.1 billion, but fell slightly by 1.5 percent in volume terms.
Textile and garment exports however fell short of the target of $13.1 billion set by the Indonesian Textile Association (API).
API chairman Ade Sudrajat said, there were significant cancellations of orders in the last quarter of 2011.
Secondly, there was a slowdown in demand from traditional markets of the European Union and the US.
He added that they foresee the dreary situation to continue in 2012 too, due to which, they have reduced the target from $13.7 billion to $13 billion for the current year.
