A national level textile festival – VASTRA'12 organized by the Textile Manufacturing Department of the Veermata Jeejabai Technology Institute (VJTI) - Mumbai strikes into action this year on February 17.

VASTRA'12 enters its 10th year of continued success by embracing all aspects of the multifaceted textile industry. The Textile Manufacturing Department of VJTI; the most premier engineering institute in Mumbai holds an unparalleled record of 125 years in the field of teaching, research and technology.

In the past years, VASTRA has garnered overwhelming response across the nation with students from all corners of the country taking part in it. It has become a brand to reckon with.

The theme this year is – Imagination, Creation and Revolution. Imagination sows the seeds for creation of new ideas and great ideas revolutionize the society. Innovative ideas from students & technologists of tomorrow will be converted into realistic creations with the help of the industry, which will revolutionize the world of textiles.

VASTRA has arranged four major events this year.

1) Technical Paper Presentation –
VASTRA has one of the biggest technical paper presentations in the country and gets huge participation from all over the country. The participants are required to give a 20 minutes presentation on topics selected by them.

2) Poster Presentation –
Pictures speak a thousand words! This is just what the participants are required to do. They have to explain a textile phenomenon using images.

3) Movie Making –
Here the participants are expected to make a short film on an aspect of textiles

4) Live Project –
This involves demonstration of live working models of technologies and concepts related to textiles.

VASTRA'12 is a new step towards a new era in textiles and it invites participation from one and all.
