Australian wool market drops

Oddments were generally unchanged or up. The average AWEX Merino Cardings Indicator was up by 13¢ in the South, but smaller changes in the other centres brought the national difference back to +3¢.

Buyers for China were dominant followed by buyers for Europe and India.

Sales will be held in Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle next week, when 44,980 bales are currently rostered for sale. Present estimates for the following two sales (Weeks 33 and 34) are 45,680 and 44,300 bales, respectively; a decrease of 3.5% over the three sale period when compared with last year.

The New Zealand Merino Company is rostered to offer 750 bales in Week 34.

In South African sales, the Cape Wools Indicator was up by 0.5% since last week against a 2.1% appreciation of the Rand against the US Dollar and a 1.4% appreciation against the Euro. 6,177 bales were on offer.
