Laquidain is new president of Spanish Intertextile

Laquidain Alexander has replaced Angel Asensio as the new President of the Spanish Intertextile Council (Consejo Intertextil Español or CIE) for a two-year term.
After taking over as new CIE President, Mr. Laquidain said he will continue with the work started by his predecessor.
He added that he will focus his efforts on finishing the construction of ICD, promoting increased cooperation between different areas of CIE and addressing the challenges posed by the current complex socio-economic situation.
Mr. Laquidain, 53, has a degree in Textile Engineering with specialization in woven fabric from Germany's University of Obertshausen. He has been running the family-owned Lakidain textile factory in Barcelona since 1985.
The new President brings an extensive experience of dealing with the trade union. Since 2010, he is serving as the President of the Confederation of Textile Industry (Texfor), which has over 2,000 Spanish entrepreneurs as its members. He is also the head of the Sedera Textile Federation.
Joan Canals, President of the Spanish Knitwear Association, was unanimously re-elected as the Vice President of CIE.
