Stefano Arienti, Massimo Caccia and Maggie Cardelús are the artists chosen to create the first collection of artist-designed fabrics, Metri d'Arte by Miroglio Textile, a company belonging to the Miroglio Group, a leader in Italy and Europe in the field of textile production.

The project, which for the first time brought art into the heart of an Italian company with a long industrial tradition, is the challenge which Miroglio Textile – founded in Alba in 1947 and currently operating in 36 countries worldwide – has chosen to showcase itself at Première Vision 2012.

Starting from a common theme – dream – and thanks to the collaboration between the three artists and the designers of the Miroglio Design Department, 6 main ranges of fabrics (2 for each artist) were developed, yielding an overall total of 21 different fabrics, for the 2013 spring/summer collection - linen, silk, cotton voile, cotton satin and viscose stretch jersey – displaied at the Paris fair. The project, involved a number of the company's professionals, unfolded as a truly cross-breeding journey with art and with the even greater aim of using fashion for conveying emotion and meaning to women, who are becoming increasingly aware and who represent the driving force for change.

Elena Miroglio, the company's Executive Vice President for Strategies, insisted that “In an increasingly globalized world where, for consumers, it is increasingly difficult to choose as it is for products to stand out, looking for features that go beyond the mere aesthetic element is gaining more and more importance,” and added that “the product must, in fact, convey ever more a complete experience, even in content. With this project we have chosen art to enrich our fabrics even with symbolic and intangible, as well as aesthetic, values, and to tell a story. Because art is emotion and passion and with it we want to speak to the hearts of our customers.”

Metri d'Arte therefore aimed at being the encounter between art and industry to keenly explore new frontiers of creativity and increasingly distinguish the company as a laboratory of thought, capable of giving life to creations endowed at the same time with harmony, soul and content.

The Metri d'Arte collection has been previewed on 14th February, 2012 in Paris at a special evening event at the Nikki Diana Marquardt gallery in Place des Vosges. Contemporary art and fabrics have been brought together in an atmospheric performance created especially for the occasion by the project's three artists. A book has also been presented illustrating the birth and the various development phases of the project, from selecting the artists, to their exchange with the company, and the finished results in the creation and manufacture of the fabrics.

Miroglio Textile is a company of the Miroglio Group specialised in manufacturing and marketing a wide range of products covering the entire spectrum of the textile sector, from threads and yarns, plain and printed fabrics to transfer paper.
