Output across Chinese textile-value chain up in 2011

Production across the whole textile value-chain, whether cotton, yarn or fabrics rose in 2011, when compared with 2010.
In the 2011-12 season, cotton output rose to 6.6 million tons, up 10.7 percent. Cotton under cultivation also grew by 190,000 hectares to 5.04 million hectares.
In the calendar year 2011, chemical fibre production was 33.9 million tons, up 9.7 percent year on year, yarn output stood at 29 million tons, a rise of 6.7 percent and fabric production reached 83.7 billion meters, an increase of 4.6 percent.
In the year under review, total annual exports of textile yarn, fabrics and other textile products reached US $94.7 billion, an increase of 22.9 percent over the previous year.
