Decline in Jan textile raw material stocks slows from Dec

The decline in raw material inventories like raw cotton or synthetic fibres held by Chinese textile mills has narrowed in January from December 2012.
This was revealed in a follow-up survey made by the China Cotton Textile Association of Chinese textile enterprises.
Most textile enterprises were cautious about procurement of raw materials in January, raw cotton stocks continued to fall from a year earlier, but the decline slowed down from its previous month.
Raw cotton stocks fell 3.44 percent year on year in January, synthetic fibre stocks decreased 16.8 percent and other fibres dipped 2.2 percent year on year.
Stocks of total inventories of all raw materials fell 4.38 percent year on year, but the decline narrowed compared with December.
In all, the surveyed textile companies carried an average inventory level of approximately 27 days.
