The Nordic and Baltic Fashion and Textile Forum to take place in Riga, Latvia on April 13 this year would see major firms from Baltic nations, Europe and Scandinavia, engaged and interested in production, distribution and sales of lingerie, clothing and textile items, gathering under one roof.

The Forum would take place during “Intertextil Balticum 2012”, the main textile and fashion industry related trade show in the Baltic States and the sole professional event annually gathering manufacturers, distributors and specialists in such industry segments as apparel, home textiles, lingerie, leathers, fashion accessories, production equipment and sewing supplies from Latvia and many other countries.

Talking about the event, Janis Mažeiks, Head of the Economic and Bilateral Relations Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, said alliance of the Baltic Sea States in the EU is a key factor upholding the widespread economic growth of the EU, promotion of new international projects and advancement of world economy.

The European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, which helps Latvia to efficiently blend the region's national expertise and resources to develop a common future, also supports the same goal, he added.

Marcis Liors Skadmanis, Chief Executive Officer of the Latvian British Chamber of Commerce in the UK, who also is an initiator of the Forum, said the event is of much importance for Latvian, Baltic and Nordic fashion and textile industry, as it would see great minds, propelling the regional as well as global fashion industry, gather under one roof. He said he is quite sure that it would unleash new opportunities and ideas for developing a more sustainable and lucrative fashion business.

The International Exhibition Company BT 1, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Latvian British Chamber of Commerce in the UK, the Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Latvia and the Danish Cultural Institute in Latvia have all joined hands to organize the event.
