Kazakhstan's first Vice Premier Serik Akhmetov has asked the Ministry of Agriculture to prepare a report, under the new agro-industrial development programme 2020, citing the likely consequences for Kazakhstan if it imposes a temporary ban on wool exports.
Mr. Akhmetov has also asked the Ministry to study the impact of such a ban on Kazakhstan's export potential.
Earlier, during his visit to the Zhambyl region, Mr. Akhmetov was urged by Governor Kanat Bozumbayev to impose a temporary ban on wool exports from the country.
The Zhambyl Governor said a similar request was made last year but no action was taken.
He explained that he is in favour of imposing a temporary ban as wool is being exported to China at very low prices for use as raw material.
