Aditiya explains by saying, “Fashion mainly comes mainly from three fibres - wool, silk and linen. But, for average middle-class consumers, textiles produced from these three fibres was beyond their reach and also very difficult to maintain.

“The Biyani family identified this gap in the market and through R&D, developed a number of yarns which when woven or knit give the looks of linen or silk to the fabric. However, the yarn has neither wool, silk nor linen, but is produced by blending raw cotton and polyester fibres”.

In 2007, Damodar set up a 35,000 spindles cotton spinning plant and 54 TFO's. In 2008, they installed 15 texturising machines. On the cards are an additional 15,000 spindles, which will be operational this year. They also have 35 hollow covering machines on which they produce the fancy yarns.

Total output is around 1,200 tons per month of which pure cotton yarn production accounts for 60 percent and rest for by polyester yarn. Again 60 percent of this production is exported and 40 percent is sold in domestic market. They serve around 35 countries worldwide.

Informing about their future plans, he says, “We are adding another 20,000 spindles in 2013 and also planning a foray into technical textiles. For the next fiscal year 2012-13, we have targeted revenues of Rs 4.5 billion.”

Recently, they have ventured in to shirting's and suiting's. This division is handled by his elder brother –Aman Biyani.

“We have top-notch clients in India for our fancy yarns, which are a niche segment. We develop and deliver a large variety of fancy yarns as per the requirements of our valued clients”, he says proudly.

“Just having the latest and best technology does not deliver a good product, by itself. There are other variables like good human resources and using quality raw materials, which are also as important”, he says, when quizzed about latest technology creating confidence in buyers.

Aditya joined Damodar Threads while in college. Since the vacations were long, he used to spend time at the plant. He was given various projects to complete in each of the departments of the plant. This laid the foundation for the young Aditya to be able to handle major responsibilities at such a young age.

Aditya was mainly mentored by his father – Mr Arun Biyani in financial areas, Mr Anil Biyani - his uncle coached him on the intricacies of sales and marketing and his other uncle – Mr Ajay Biyani taught him the finer aspects of production.

Before joining the family business full-time, the third generation of Biyani's are also supposed to work outside the family business to get an exposure of the outside world. As part of this, Aditya worked for CRISIL, which is a renowned rating's agency.

Currently, Aditya looks after the exports and domestic sales of the cotton yarn division and also looks after the production of the cotton plant near Vapi, like production planning, solving production bottlenecks, etc.
