Iran plans to boost handwoven carpet exports to China

Iran is planning to increase its handwoven carpet exports to China to US$ 300 million during the current Iranian year that started on March 20, 2012, Iran National Carpet Centre (INCC) said.
Iranian entrepreneurs participated in good numbers at the second edition of Domotex exhibition held in Shanghai, China from March 27 to March 29, 2012, the Centre said.
INCC has also evolved special plans to increase its carpet exports to China, and participation of Iranian firms in this year's Domotex exhibition formed a part of the same, it added.
It said that undertaking a preliminary study of the Chinese market forms a part of the INCC's agenda, as it is considered the first step towards boosting Iranian carpet exports to China. It added that from next month onwards a delegation would undertake studies in this respect.
In addition, INCC is also trying to revive traditional markets for Iranian carpet exports.
Last Iranian year, Iran's hand-woven carpet exports were valued at US$ 560 million and the country is now aiming to achieve the US$ 1 billion mark in near future.
Iran supplies its handwoven carpets and rugs to over 100 countries across the world.
