Pakistan's bed wear exports decline during July-Feb

A slump has been noted in Pakistan's bed wear exports during the initial eight months of the current fiscal year that began on July 1, 2011.

In terms of value, depicting a fall of 10 percent or US$ 129.782 million, Pakistan's bed wear exports dipped from US$ 1.317 billion to US$ 1.187 billion during the review period, the official statistics revealed.

In terms of volume, Pakistan's bed wear exports dropped by 19.32 percent year-on-year or 39,852 tons to 166,469 tons during July-February period. Pakistan exported 206,321 tons of bed wear during the corresponding period of previous year.

In February 2012, bed wear exports form Pakistan dipped by 20 percent or US$ 30.571 million to US$ 12.4.897 million, from February 2011's US$ 155.468 million.

Volume-wise, exports of bed wear fell by 19 percent or 4,131 tons from February 2011's export of 22,182 tons to 18,051 tons during February this year, the statistics showed.

All Pakistan Bed Wear Exporters Association Chairman Shabbir Ahmed held the Government's erratic policies responsible for stagnation of the country's economy and for decline in exports, particularly textile and bed wear exports.
